Preservation
The McGregor Family Centre is committed to the transformation of the child and youth care system in South Africa. The programs run by this Centre are non-residential, which means the children go home to their families at the end of the day. The program is intended to provide an alternative to the removal of children from family and community into the residential care system. The Developmental Childcare Program (DCC program) is strength based, taking an integrated systems approach to child and family care. The emphasis is placed on the positive factors in the life circumstances of the child and family. The Family Reconstruction and Youth Programs offer families the opportunities to make positive changes in their lives. All
children need nourishment, shelter, loving care, understanding and guidance in
order to grow physically and emotionally. When children grow up in homes where
alcohol abuse, poverty, neglect and violence are the norm, they learn violent
and abusive behaviour. Because it is all they have learnt, as adults they will
often repeat this behaviour pattern. Our aim is to
break this cycle by offering alternatives.
We could not manage without the help we receive from sponsors and supporters. With your help the Centre is able to make a difference in these children's lives.
